This is the trailer to King of Fighter Kyo for the PSOne that I ripped from KOF 97. Never played the game...please leave any comment about this game.

@wallyplaces To fix what I said, the "non-canon" characters are playable, but only if you beat them. Memory card is needed of course but I never use them.

When I was younger I was so overhyped with kof series and though kof kyo was full in japanese text and somewhat weird game,I managed to finish it back in 1998-99.I had it on pirate cd ofcourse on a modchipped psx.

@Erotomaniax I beg to differ. 98 Kyo is an awesome rush down character. His Naraku Otoshi have awesome priority in air to ground attack and can start of combo very easily. His super move Mushiki is easy to combo comparable with Yagami's Yaotome and Takuma's Ryuko Ranbu. The only downside of him is lack of projectile which is not so important anyway since he had autoguard ability and the RED Kick. 98 Kyo is extremely deadly in hand of tournament class player.

I always thought it was weird how Kyo is the main protagonist of KOF, yet he's not even close to being as strong as Iori, Terry, Athena, and in KOF 98, hidden Ryo and Takuma!

His moves leave him pretty open to counter attack. His super move can neither hit clean in the air nor combo well, which makes it effective only against the stupid AI characters who run head on as you execute and charge the super... or they try to punch thru it :-P Kyo stands no chance against experienced KOF players.

It's an RPG-fighter that is roughly described as if KOF 97 had a long long storyline. Although developed by a different company, it retains the gfx from KOF games as well some new characters/sprites. Bad thing is, the new characters aren't interesting and not playable on VS mode. Overall, it's a weird guessing--game type rpg fighter but the artwork is very neat.

Oh ya, you only start with Kyo, Benimaru and Daimon on VS mode til you unlock more in story.
