This is a great recording, and the pictures add a lot! I grew up hearing this story from my grandmother, whose mother Anna Mae Burnett, was a first cousin of Floyd. Such a tragic story.

This song "The Death of Floyd Collins" was written by Rev. Andrew Jenkins,
the same songwriter who wrote "Ben Dewberry´s Final Run" recorded by
the father of Country music the legendary singing breakman Jimmie Rodgers.

im evan collins from lexington and this was a song my grammy sang when i was little, but she played it with Em d g Bm instead of the generic ballad prgression of g c d whatever the order may be for this

Such a sad story. A friend of mine just introduced me to the Adam Guettel musical Floyd Collins, so I've been really interested in the story behind it. Thanks for including the lyrics to this! I listened to another video of the song but I love all the pictures and the lyrics you included.

I love that old scratchy record feel, I think it adds to the beauty of the old ballad.
