You don't hear too much about this perfectly sized and mostly affordable EDC option. In medium size, the Voyager has all kinds of utility and could even function is a emergency defensive blade. But the overriding low point in current production CS Voyagers is the poorly executed pocket clip. Its very strong and blackened (all good) but it's poorly shaped and rests atop some aggressive diamond checkering that rips up your pockets. To cure this I've done some simple mods: re-profiling the clip and then epoxy-filling the diamond pattern under the clip. That makes this otherwise excellent design... well... excellent (other than the low mounted clip that makes the knife stick out about 3/4" from your pocket). Great features on the medium sized CS Voyager include a quality AUS8 steel (VG-1 steel in current models), solid lockup after a fast (manual) deployment, nicely shaped handle with good traction, and a perfectly sized and sharpened EDC blade. And actually this blade size and shape ranks among my all time favorite EDC options... and I love the hollow grinding on it. And at a mere 1.8 oz this lightweight knife is superbly easy to carry. At around $40 this knife is a little on the pricey side for an FRN handled knife but it's still a good buy. With the mods, it's a near perfect EDC option.//////////////Nutnfancy Likeability Scale: 8.5 of 10

  • It's for defense purposes. If someone confronts you with lets say, a knife, and says give me all your damn money or I'll kill you. Even though you have a knife/gun of your own, you don't just pull it out and confront the guy. You hand him over your money and let it go, trying to avoid further confrontation. You ONLY take out your weapon for defense purposes if they truly wish to cause you harm. I don't see how anyone can disagree with the use of weapons in this situation.

  • Do as you wish, I'd rather not risk getting myself hurt, or hurting/killing someone else over $20.

  • The best EDC I've found are actually several: Spydie Tenacious or Persistence, Cold Steel Rajai III, Rat 1 and probably the best and least expensive, the M16 or M21 series from CRKT. They are all tough work-type knives but can also be used as tactical blades which makes the best EDC. Or even the great SOG X-Ray or Visionary for more expensive EDCs. And I can't forget about the Buck CSAR-T and Case Texas Jack. LOL that's more than a few I suppose.

  • Wow, what a collection !

  • A knife is a knife is a knife. Unless you are in Combat (Military) and require a fixed blade. 17 years of military service, most all with CAPOC and I have never needed a SUPER folder. My Case C229 Mid Folding Hunter ($59) has been my go to folder for a while and a Blade Tech Mouse-Lite ($30). From Afghanistan to Iraq and back they never failed or left me needing more. All I'm trying to say is when it comes to folders is that a knife is a knife is a knife.

  • Great Video NutnFancy,I am looking for a very nice utilty/EDC heavy duty blade from cold steel With a price rage of 50-120 dollars What knife would you buy?

  • do you carry a knife for utility and another one for self defense?

  • omg i want soo bad to carry some of your stuff but in greece its illegal to carry a knife no matter the size or what knife is...so i carry an opinel no 5 for knife and i hope the police will be ok with it because its tooooo small...:(

  • I know that you have a ton on your plate but I would love to hear your opinion on the new voyagers. Thanks for the great videos!

  • Hey nutn, I was curious if you've seen the new style of CS voyagers for 2011 and was wondering what you think about them.

  • @BrandonEclipse I know this is an old comment, but I disagree. If someone pulls a knife on you and threatens your life, you now have a legal reason to pull out your gun.

Someone pulls out a knife and says I'm going to kill you if you don't give me your money. You have a wallet and a handgun both in reachable area's. You:

A)Hand him the wallet and hope he doesn't stab you anyway.

B)Pull out your handgun and now you know he won't stab you.

Thumbs up for defending your valuable life.

  • I understand that you do the jb weld mode because it looks better than sanding your knife but if you think about it in terms of weight jb weld is adding weight and sanding is removing weight. Just a suggestion.
