Kristen Vigard owes the song. Period. Too bad Laura Nyro is not here to do it. Can you imagine? Mindblowing. I am not a fan of Mr. Costello's, so I won't allude to his version. Though I respect him as an artist.

great song, but no one sings it like the original performer (who provided the singing voice for illeana douglas in the film "grace of my heart"), kristen vigard. do a search for her 5-minute version on youtube and check it out. simply extraordinary.

@delagosis yes i have it< and i LOVE it, Buckets of rain is my fav on that CD :) but i like the version from when they were recording it the best, when you hear them talking and working things out, and making fun of each other :)

Only Elvis Costello could show Bette up, but he shows her up in stars. Burt, thank you for this song, so that we can all, fans of all, love a song that resounds with all of us. If you didn't shed a tear, go back to the beginning and listen again.
