Director: Grant Gee

Following the British rock band Radiohead on their exhaustive world tour (after the success of their 1997 album "OK COMPUTER"), the film is a collage of video clips, sound bites, and dialogue going behind the scenes with the band as they travel the world. It show us the eventual burn-out of the group as their world tour progresses.

The world tour that is the subject of Meeting People Is Easy has subsequently been admitted as a low point for the band, specifically Thom Yorke, who had a near-breakdown. This would form the background of Radiohead's recording sessions beginning in 1999 for their next albums Kid A and Amnesiac, inspiring a different songwriting and recording style and the band's changed sound after OK Computer.

Thom Yorke, lead singer of Radiohead claims that Meeting People Is Easy is a 94-minute message to any younger bands who might envy Radiohead's high-flying lifestyle. And that message is: "Don't even think about it."

  • i wept throughout Exit Music. does anyone else find this film a lot like david lynch's Eraserhead? very dreamlike is what i mean, the whole thing is like a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy, it seems like you've dreamed it all. the day after i watched it i went and checkd all my radiohead cds were still there for fear that i'd dreamed the band completely.

  • exit music is such a powerful song

  • It's so cool to see them writing a song.

  • GO PHILL! also I remember watching this in 1999 not sure if its in this part but when hes going on about the banking system collapsing, I think Pearly is in the background and the interviewers, who I think are Japanese are suddenly "Fuck this 'popstar' is actually saying something intelligent" he turned out to be right about that. Also the classic SKY news bit... "Its the most miserable song I've ever heard" ha ha ha

  • This video has no dislike button thank you GOD (Thom Yorke)

  • @Cruzman3609

your comment cracked me up. you have all the insight you need as "irrelevant surreal bullshit" covers his state of mind

  • @Cruzman3609 Well I agree with you about getting in Thom's head, thats something I wouldve liked to see here, but think about it, there was no way this was going to happen, it was one of the worst periods of his life and he wouldn't tear it open on film, it's just not like him, you know.

And I really like this documentary, it gives you a nice idea of what the tour was for them. Tiring and invasive. Like the top comment said, the copy of a copy of a copy

  • Exit Music needs as many reverb as humanly possible to make it utterly powerfull like in this one

  • This is one of the most dull documentaries ive ever seen. Theres more montages of stupid city seens than the actual band.

  • 3:12 Phil Is Great!
