@GullRazz I agree. As a women, I personally think men get a raw deal when it comes to "reverse sexism". It's frustrating that women can't take jokes that are stereotypical but men can; it just makes women look like they think that that kind of stuff is "beneath them". I actually noticed this when I saw one of those anti-snoring product commercials: they always show men as the one whith the snoring problem and the women as the one complaining (something women are good at).

@dirths But ads most often show women as domestic adepts, nurturers, fashion and or baby obsessives, sex objects, neurotics, judgmental and shallow people, and so on. So sure, men do get stereotyped, but so do women. And men are quite capable of being smelly and stupid. Men are twice as likely to be in car accidents than women. 73 percent of all people killed in car accidents are male. For anecdotal evidence, check out the great disparity between male and female cases at the Darwin Awards.

@gbuzel What you say makes sense in principle but in practice it does not. Men have an enormous advantage in society because of their gender and the remnants of a patriarchal culture which lasted perhaps thousands of years. Faced with that, do you REALLY think that sexism is finished now and women are on equal footing with men simply because we humans are intellectual enough to self-delude? The book you mentioned is an interesting take, but it is only one facet of the discussion.

If any commercials are going to be sexist, it is usually going to show the man as stupid, smelly, clutzy, or all of the above. The commercials that show the woman as being inept are the commercials that really stick out because this is not the norm. I am transgendered, so please do not respond by saying I must be one or the other, as I am going between the two. If I ever make a commercial it will show a woman being clumsy and smelly, like I said, it will stick out!!!

Does anyone remember this particular commercial? I think it is an insurance commercial, but I don't exactly remember. In an office, you hear a slow voice over an intercom, "Mr. (Someone), this is your doughnut in the outer office. I need you to come out here and eat me". I saw it one time very late at night with a friend and our mouths dropped in disbelief. I have looked under doughnuts, insurance, commercials and all 3 mixed. Would like to find it and email it to that friend.

@phumelele1 Because women are horrible drivers! Next time you are being tailgated, look in the rearview, 99.9% of the time it a blonde woman who should be in such a commercial as this!
