Forgive the poor picture resolution and groove instead on Jesse's soulful, funky licks. A sampling of some of his best solos, some rare, some not so rare. Enjoy

  • Hi folks. I had the honor of playing rhythm piano (sometimes bass) with Ed off and on in Oklahoma city 1961-1964. T. He asked me to drop out of college and join him at the Fillmore once, but by then I had chickened out on music . Ed was kind, had a big heart, and worked like a dog on his art. He could also turn a phrase or lyric with the best of them. In my opinion, one of Ed's really great solos is the 4-chorus ride he takes on Bacon Fat, recorded with Taj on the album Giant Step (1968).

Thanks for watching the vid. I am sure you treasured the time you spent playing with him, and I am appreciative that you took the time to watch the vid. He truly was a "one of kind" guitar player and musician in general. You can tell from listening to his musical contributions that the music simply oozed out of him. A true original and sorely missed.

P.S. Were you with Conway Twitty's band at that time with Ed?

  • Damn. This was so good to hear. Any chance of getting a song list?

  • I'm familiar with Jesse's work with Gene Clark and Jackson Browne, and also the stuff with John Lennon. Haven't heard any of the other stuff. He was a great natural talent...certainly in my all-time favourite guitarists' list.
