This is what I'm doing Chris -- where I am going to get it done. I am going to bridge Rosabeth Moss Kanter's Super Corp & you and Julien's Trust Agents: Social Media for Social Good&Doing Good is Good Business ... we have to convince global business that to adopt not only Social Media but a sustainable collaborative working methodology and leadership style (a la Kanter, you & Julien). That is my mission! I'm working it! Warmly, Jeris
Exactly. We need to be out there DOING social media stuff together. It's all about helping each other. You don't make social media powerful on your own.
Love the part about quit talking and let's do something and teach people and elevate folks to that next level... I get so sick of conferences where the smart folks come together and talk. I mean, some of it is valuable, but mostly, I'd rather see hard work making it REAL and VALUABLE for those that aren't at those conferences yet. Kudos. Keep up the good work.
I really appreciate your point about getting out there and helping other people -- especially since many people in social media are inclined to still only talk with each other. To me, it's an issue of "preaching to the choir".
Helping a favorite small business with their online efforts can teach you volumes more than sitting in endless panels about "Social Media ROI" and the like will. Nothing beats real-world experience, and REAL hard work.
Thank you Chris, The idea of putting in the work is more difficult (but necessary) than talking about putting in the work and the fact that someone with your crazy schedule would take the time to dissect the whole "Overnight Success" concept is very cool and inspirational....and REAL!
When I coached a middle school level Lacrosse team my mantra was "HELP EACH OTHER"! (sometimes it tough to get that across to people)
Our vision today is helping the "have nots", in our case, the small business people who need all the help they can get to prosper in the web & social media space. I just did 2 hours with a new client this am - just walking him thru the steps to success and providing some immediate pathways to start
Hey Chris! Oh you want me to work??? Damn! (*sarcasm* hehe) Ok so here's the thing: I'm a Realtor who totally gets - NAY...has built my entire business via social media AND I'm an over 41 year old woman. Seems like everyone has started a social media company of some sort. What kind of projects are you talking about? I totally believe in moving people forward but I still have my day job.
Let me just say, FINALLY! I started following individuals such as yourself and others where I was looking to learn how to both use Social Media in my own business as well as how it could be of benefit to my clients.
After 3 months, I'm still hearing WHY I should us it and not HOW I can. (And saying "Talk to your customers," "Engage," "Get in the conversation" doesn't count. Give me examples of HOW you do that. I may understand it, but 90% of my 40+ year old business owner clients sure won't!
Hi Chris and friends- I am with you on the "taking action"- we are not debating with thought leaders- we are becoming action leaders- @xtionleadership on twitter with downstream projects to ignite success quickly for our partners and customers!
