@MengTian52 Thanks for the insights; but do heed the warnings about CP. Fr. Keating teaches that "you are not to think about God during the time of centering prayer, in order to so give God a chance to manifest." The problem with this is that you open yourself up to real spirits of deception, especially if a soul is in the state of mortal sin. Keating claims that "Most Christians have a pretty monstrous idea of God that involves hell and punishment." Why did Jesus speak of hell and punishment?

@PraisedBeJesus Peace be with you. Based on 15 years of experience of practicing CP and interactions with many who have practiced for a quarter century or more, I have found CP does the opposite, it pulls people away from the NA and into Christ; it can pull you out of your False Self into your True Self in the Triune God. Read a complete book or two by Keating -- for example: "Open Mind, Open Heart" and "Manifesting God" -- then talk to local long-time practitioners. Peace be with you. Goodbye.

@MengTian52 Part 2: I don't mean to denigrate your experiences, but the point of these posts is to alert you to the dangers of CP. Achieving a warm and fuzzy feeling by emptying your mind has its dangers, and even JPII pointed to the example of St. Teresa of Avila who rejected the temptation of methods of prayer which proposed leaving aside of the humanity of Christ in favor of a vague self-immersion in the abyss of divinity. Warning: CP can lead you away from Christ and into the N.A.

@MengTian52 An error in the beginning is an error indeed. Martin Luther didn't intend to cause the huge division, confusion and disintegration of the Christian Church, but that was the rotten fruit which came from the seed of his teachings, which today deprives of millions of the Holy Eucharist and the 7 Sacraments---the primary means of Sanctifying Grace. CP is a seed which ushers many souls into the New Age and away from Christ. Take for instance a classic example of what I mean: Continued...

@PraisedBeJesus Peace be with you. Throughout this exchange I have thought about the CP practitioners I know and have known, they are people filled with the Holy Spirit and the love of Christ and the love of God. Judging the vine by the fruits, Satan must really hate CP and will do anything to discourage people from it. Thus, my commitment to and enthusiasm for my own CP practice and spreading CP as far and as wide and to as many people as I can has been redoubled due to our little exchange.

@PraisedBeJesus Peace be with you. "There's a reason why [CP] rarely uses the name Jesus." Of my Kindle CP books, Pennington's 288p book on CP has 200+ mentions of Jesus or Christ and more than 200 mentions of God or Lord; Keating's 139p Manifesting God 200+ J/C, 125+ G/L; various authors 329p "Writings on CP" 200+ J/C, 125+ G/L; not counting pronouns. Read 2 or 3 Keating books, read the ancients, read 1+ books on each of TM, Zen, Tibetan Buddhism, & Taoism, then talk to local practioners.

@MengTian52 @MengTian52 The issue is not ancient monastic Christian disciplines; the concern is the practice of CP which is teaching you that traditional Christian devotions are infantile, primitive and unenlightened. CP gurus sprinkle references here and there of St. Teresa, St. John of the Cross, etc. but it's a masquerade. There's a reason why it rarely uses the name Jesus. CP is de-Christianizing your soul and corrupting devotions such as the Rosary. "O Birther! Father-Mother of the Cosmos"?

@PraisedBeJesus peace be with you. You poor, poor child. My heart bleeds in sympathy for you for being so closed to God's love that you spew hate and lies about a marvelous, ancient monastic Christian discipline. I am so sorry for you. I have practiced 15 years and know many who have practiced 25 years or more and have met few so filled with Christ and God's love, to the core of their beings. You do not know, you have no idea what you are talking about. Read the ancients, think for yourself.

@MengTian52 Christocentric meditation leads to authentic contemplative prayer. Fr. Keating's CP is more akin to transcendental meditation than Christian meditation, thus it is a Luciferian snare dressed up as a loving approach to God. The emptying of the mind to seek oneness with cosmic energies usher you right into Eastern ideologies and the New Age, denying the existence of Satan and that all religions are merely different ways to reach God. Jesus Christ is not the center of meditation in CP.
Oh, you read the documents yourself.. Do you think Father Thomas being a Cistercian monk for 67 Years and a Superior from 1958, Abbot from 1961 did read it? He was given his authority from the very church you refer to.. Who understands it best? His practice would make it impossible for him to ever call you a "Heretic" or to feel glad about that you once will be "dying off". He would even quite likely, not like me, feel a bit sorry for you, but actually love you. LOVE should never turn 180.
