I got this engine from the same guy that I got the old fan from. He has a bunch of more old school stuff when he moved to the house.

I got the engine to run like new but only thing that needs to be cleaned is the gas tank and re do the fuel lines. The other thing I cant figure out is the carb is not original to the engine, because it has like 5 gaskets to space it out so it can bolt in right.

If anyone can identify this engine and hp, leave it in the comments, Thanks

  • This is a Clinton engine, Model 760, 2 HP, the gas tank should be 3 quart capacity. The engine should had been made around 1950 to 1951 .The original air filter is a clear(see through) oil type filter.

The carburetor that is on your engine is not the original carburetor that came with the engine , it looks like it came off a 3 hp Brick and Stratton.

  • @FloryJohann thanks! at least the carb makes the engine run very nice.Ii cleaned the gas tank really well with rocks and its shiny metal inside, only thing i didn't touch is the paint but its almost restored except for having a different carb and no fuel valve on the tank

  • Beware the spark plug wire, it hurts...

  • @7mgtesr20det hmm i wonder why everyone gets shocked except me

  • @30GB - Shoot! You think these are bad, gear driven magneto on my Wisconsin is so bad! It has a strong spark and it has the system where you can turn the engine by hand at 1/4 of a turn per minute and still gives a strong spark (Makes for easier starting) but will make the hair on the back of your neck to stand up in a hurry. HAHA! Nice engine though! I like the gear reducer. You should get a tank that fits those brackets. Also, you can buy gear oil (thicker then motor oil) for the gear reducer.

  • @doomsd46 i do have the original tank but its full of 20 year old gas tar, any suggestions that will remove the stuff? i tried lots of things but haven't tried paint thinner yet. I removed the gear reducer for now since im trying to find a clutch for it to put it on something if not ill use it to drive a small generator motor from a tread mill with the tranny

  • @30GB - Try mixing a bit of Acetone with some Transmission fluid. That stuff will eat away at any kind of gunk usually. If you have try that and that does not work, paint thinner sure as hell probably won't do it. You might also wanna try putting some diesel or gasoline in it and shaking it, letting it sit for a week and shaking some more. Sometimes what causes the problem will fix it too. I am sure there is some viscous stuff out there that will take that off. A generator would be cool.

  • sell it to me !

  • Nice Engine, Should clean up nice

  • @30GB Oh lol
