For those of you arguing that behind the neck is bad, you need to note a few things: 1) note his form; it's perfect. The KEY point is that he's only lowering his elbows parallel to the ground, not below, which is where the shoulder capsule becomes overstrained, resulting in injury. The bar gets to about ear level, and he returns the bar up. It's lowering the bar to the base of the neck that will strain the neck, and possibly damage the shoulders. Good luck, and thanks Vic!

Behind the head should only be done in moderation because it pulls joints to an awkward position and can damage your delts if used regularly.

are you sure that's improper for shoulders? or is it improper for lat pulldown's (to come behind the shoulders)? or maybe both?

behind the shoulders isn't recommended, it's easy to fall back if you're only managing 4-6 reps due to weight. But I guess when you look like this guy, you'd have learnt a thing or two about controlling the weight, not letting the weight control you. But generally for newcomers and even those that have trained for almost a year, I'd still not recommend it, and neither would the guys at my gym.

Both Aikido Saint and Achilles5Cenci are wrong and right at the same time. Behind the neck destroyed my shoulders but many of my other friends benefit from it greatly, in limited amounts. You guys need to remember not to rely on it to heavily because of the potential for injury, even though you may not get injured from doing it. Rule of thumb, if it feels uncomfortable then do not do it.
