Fantasy of Flight extended a warm invitation for us to try out their new ziplining and ropes course called "Wing, Walk, Air!" last week. As we pulled up to the Fantasy of Flight facility and saw the ropes tower and zipline, we were kind of unimpressed. Don't let the appearance fool you. This was a super cool ropes course!! One of the things I really liked about it is that you're held onto the course by a track system and harness that ensures that you're ALWAYS connected to the structure. You NEVER "clip out" with even a single connection. In fact, you can't get out of the system until you walk yourself back to the bottom deck.
Another great thing about the Wing, Walk, Air! course is that you pay once and use it all day!! This makes it a great deal. You can come in the morning, leave for lunch and come back for the rest of the afternoon!! Currently, you can do just the ropes course for $12, just the zip line for $15, or both for $22 per person.
The Wing, Walk, Air! ropes course has three levels with multiple obstacles on each level, totaling 33 obstacles and heights of up to 40'. The employees have been testing themselves on the course since it opened and the current fastest time for all 33 obstacles is 3:23!! This is seriously fast! You can join in on the competition, too, but you'll need a few times through to compete with that time.
At the end of your time on the ropes course, you come back down to the bottom deck to get your zip line harness on and head up to the top level for your time on the 600' zip line! Again, you can go down the ziplines as many times as you want for your daily admission fee! You get a great view of the air field and Fantasy of Flight facility from the zip line.
Here's a little more about Fantasy of Flight's Wing Walk Air from them:
Wing WalkAir offers an exhilarating challenge for adults and children alike. While safely harnessed to an overhead line, ropes course participants are engaged both physically and mentally as they maneuver through 33 separate challenges climbing to heights of over four stories in the air. Guests who opt in for the zip line will experience a total of 600 heart pounding feet as they "fly" over 40 feet in the air right at the edge of our airport runway. Subject to certain physical and footwear requirements. Children under the age of 18 must have parental authorization to participate.
