Residents rally for PROTEST at Otford and around Helensburgh, New South Wales, Australia, where there is the protected 7d Hacking River Catchment Zone. Land speculators who bought land there in the hope that the zoning would change one day have been kicking up a stink for years over this with Wollongong City Council. Now they have their chance under the new Wollongong Draft Review of this named 7d zone. This one protected zone is now facing 8 different zonings, some areas with multiple zones, plus 115 development applications before the former corrupt Council. All on this supposedly protected land of the Hacking River that flows through the National Heritage Listed areas of the Garrawarra State Conservation Area Royal National Park, with Sutherland Shire copping everything that will now come down the river. This area is suppose to be the lungs between Sydney and Wollongong, but by opening up the land, it would only develop lung cancer. If you want to protect this environment, all the details for lodging an OBJECTION to the Council are at the end of the film.

  • The comments are monitored. Comments of dubious merit from certain land owners will not be tolerated. Regardless of disguised names, comments can be tracked back to each individuals computer.

  • The people bought their land as legal residential blocks, and built their homes. Over the years, the protected zoning became more affective. Those who didn't build on their land can not blame those who did for they actually only wanted to live their, not sub-divide.

  • A lot of selfish people preventing other people from using their own land in the same way they use their own.

  • Marvellous work on the video & by the majority of residents of 2508 who do not want this beautiful region & wildlife corridor to the Royal National Park further degraded. The scenic region of Helensburgh and Otford & Stanwell Tops is treasured for the resident endangered native species , the Port Hacking River Water catchment, the beauty that attracts thousands of tourists, its microclimate, high tree canopy that filters air between Sydney & Wollongong and the village charms.
