Gil Grissom finally decides to do something about his hearing problem, I myself actually have Otosclerosis and found that they did a nice job when it came to the sound he was hearing in THIS episode.. During the other episodes the sound was more like a 'lowering volume' effect.. At least I think it was, I can't trust MY ears now can I, lol.

  • I have to agree with all you guys.. It's not REALLY like in the series.. They did emulate the effect slightly, lol..

The operation itself is nothing to worry about.. I didn't.. I even made a joke when they put me under.. Sadly it didn't improve my hearing..

Though it failed it DID remove a crackling sounds I heard when I used headphones/ hearing aid.. SO I will go for the operation again.

The only thing I didn't like was being intubation when I woke up, lol.

  • You guys are very courageous. That's all I can say. =)

  • I had the surgery 10 years ago and now having my other ear done. I waited to see if it would just go away, it just got worse. I don't want to get the surgery because I thought seeing how I had a not so good receovery with the first ear I don't want to got through the same thing. Hopefully, it will be better and I will be able to hear normally out of both ears!!!

  • Yeah, I know what you mean, I'm having the same surgery soon and it's not that big of a deal, but you gotta remember it's a TV show and they need to make it seem more dramatic. I think they did a good job with the sound, it's pretty much how I hear.

  • As someone with severe Otosclerosis, I think they went about his hearing problem completely incorrectly. I also didnt hear anything like him. It was more tunnel hearing, and of course the ringing. They dont know its hereditary they just know once its in the genes theres a greater chance of getting it. Hearing loss will not be permanent if you wait to have surgery. The surgery that they make seem so life threatening is typically a day surgery with 1-5 drops of blood lost in the process.
