The year was 2006. Near the end of the first semester of my junior year at St. Louis University High School, I was commissioned by Phil Herman — a fantastic writer and talented poet, a deity among men — to direct and produce a short film based on Stéphane Mallarmé's "Un Coup de Dés jamais n'abolira le hasard."
The result was this video, shot and cut in three days in Webster Groves, Missouri.
The script is loosely based on the poem from which Phil and I adapted; what we kept in tact was its structure and theme.
Shot on Canon GL2 MiniDV 3CCD Camcorder. Edited on Final Cut Express.
Excuse the poor quality. I'm not exactly technologically savvy.
