Im as outside as it gets, where are these societies that I can visit that'll give me food exactly??

The most intolerant societies are so because they are the most insecure. They limit themselves and, ashamed of their own childishness, expect others to live by their own limitations. Suddenly I think of The Bible's "jealous god."

@burnindownthehouse Excellent observation. I've thought the exact same thing watching the protests. People assume we all must want the same things. It's about a paradigm shift...not just a shifting of wanting this thing instead of that thing.

This actually applies to the Occupy Wall Street protesters in a certain way. The biggest complaint against them is that they refuse to play by the rules that society has laid out for them. People yell out at them, "Play by the rules we play by and you might be successful, too. Don't you want to be us? Don't you want all of the high status toys we have?" But that is missing the point entirely. The nonconformists don't want what the conformists have. Their lives are about ideas, not things.
