The premise of "New Realm" is to challenge antiquated views of women as often seen in fairy tales. The series explores strength of character and independence. Using a surreal backdrop, this modern tale presents the heroine as a strong and courageous woman. The viewer is invited to follow along as the story unfolds.

Various symbols typically associated with femininity are woven into the series. Symbols ranging from high fashion to butterflies serve as representations of modern women. With their haute couture design, dresses, while being considered feminine, symbolize the heroine's ties to royalty. The modern fashions thus bring the story into a more current context. Birds and feathers allude to flight and freedom, in both a physical and emotional sense. Butterflies represent growth and transformation which are witnessed through the story's heroine and through women in general. No longer sheltered, the heroine proves that women are strong and independent.

  • I was quite surprised to see such paintings from an American . . . Anyway, after checking all your paintings on your website I can deliver a judgement: Your art is more than simply critical, it has ideals that are worth imitating it, which prooves that you can think yourself. Not bad! (be aware that this is a litotes). I am working on the same topic, but I write because I can' t paint. Somehow you managed to paint the the same sort of images I have in my brain.

  • @FischkindMC Some of the paintings feature high collar blouses, others are dresses. The clothing is modern and feminine- lace, ruffles, light colors- but hints at styles seen in fairytales, usually associated with royalty. This is a modern "fairytale" so I wanted to keep everything current.

  • women with long, closed collars? I can' t understand, why.

  • @FischkindMC of woman. The astonishing thing is that you don' t create a dreamer' s world, it still remains down to earth - this is why I like it so much. In fact it is a hymn on the natural beauty of women, you show them in all their elegance and feminine power. Every man and woman wonders who they are. In the end life is the way to recognize who and what for you are. These paintings are free of all the mistakes humans do in their life. They are the complete woman. However, why do you paint the

  • @AmyGuidryArtist This is indeed a phenomenon I can' t explain! It was a must to see all your paintings, they support me writing poems and novels. There are very few works that have a message that remains true for centuries and frankly, you are very close to creating one. The point is that you don' t try reacting on the zeitgeist but explore your own limits in order to discover yourself - at least with the "New Realm" series. The woman you are painting is not only you, she represents the ideal

  • @MrMilo13 Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I used myself as a model but that was out of convenience. Some people think the series is meant to be self-portraiture, which I can certainly relate to this story, but it is meant to be representative of women in general and the challenges they face. I needed one person to serve as a model for a huge series, so it was more convenient (and free!) to use myself. Not to mention I work long days, well into the evening sometimes. :)
