A quick test render of a Demon kickboxing on a water bag. Created in 3ds Max using a biped and key framing, for a class project.

  • Obviously this vid KIND of answered it, but can you give me your opinion on 3ds, or rhino? I realize they do hugely different things, but they work well together.

  • While I've never used Rhino, I do know that it is a NURBS modeling tool where 3ds Max is more of a polygon modeling tool (3ds has NURBS too, but they suck). NURBS is just a different way to model. I have done NURBS modeling with Maya a lot and I have to say that I prefer polygonal modeling techniques. But like you said, they can work well together; you can do your modeling in Rhino and then drop it into Max for texturing/rendering/animation etc. It's another tool, learn as many as you can.

  • Damn man! As always, jealous! Excellent modeling and very smooth/realistic animation! When are you graduating?

  • Thank you. 3 quarters left. Almost done.
