George Curtis interviews WDNR Fisheries Management Technician ROBERT "BOB" OLYNYK on sauger. Sauger are slowly making a comeback on the Winnebago System. The state Department of Natural Resources recently lifted a nearly 10-year ban on keeping the fish after efforts to increase the sauger population and improving spawning habitat have shown promising results. One sauger will be allowed as the daily limit for the fish, a member of the perch family that lives primarily in Lake Winnebago but is occasionally found in the upriver lakes of Poygan, Butte des Morts and Winneconne.
