Most Republican voters I know personally think that the best state of DC is one of gridlock.

I'd love to have a beer with Ezra, he seems like a pretty cool guy to have a chat with.

Mhm. The fact that you don't grasp the evolution of individual self-sovereignty as both a philosophical and legal concept, nor how the vestiges of the Magna Carta's ideas affected the Enlightenment ideas of US founders, is really your problem not mine. However that shouldn't keep you from spouting on as it almost has the potential to be amusing.

Frankly I believe the whole American system is not any good for the modern world.

On top of that you people seem to have far too many elections for too many positions.

Why not try a parliament and a Prime Minster for a while.

Too many of you seem to think your constitution is some sort of holy writ. It is not.

I worry your antique system will drag your nation down.

to me the most pressing change that's needed is democrats getting their head out of their asses and start obeying mike singletary's rule #1 and hit some republicans (esp. in swing states) in the mouth... then you'll see how quickly they gonna vote for jobs measures, clean energy and gender rights.

the fact that dems are also bought by wall st lets them play good cop bad cop with their base. as long as dems dont feel the heat from us they wont stand up to the repubs

Is Ezra Klein the guy who thinks the US Constitution is too old to be relevant?

What about the Magna Carta? It's very old I've heard.

He no doubt thinks anything worth knowing only happened in the last 30 years.

Excellent interview and it confirms something I've believed for a long time - it's not that Americans have necessarily agreed or disagreed with an agenda or even an idea in that agenda necessarily - it's that nothing is ever really getting done by Washington. Congress has had, under both Democrats AND Republicans now, a HORRIBLE job approval as far as a body of government goes.

I like a lot of Klein's ideas, but I'd even be happy with Mr. Smith Goes to Washington's version of it again.

"People get the government they deserve"

The fact that only 25% know what a filibuster is explains our current situation perfectly.
