For me, I couldn't understand why nobody caught on that you really didn't need to say the "jokull" part of the name. As the locals explained many times (an example can be heard in this very video), jokull means glacier. That means that the name "Eyjafjallajökull" is actually the name of the glacier sitting on top of the volcano. The volcano itself is just "Eyjafjall".
