@BeClaireful just H O W can you treat serious mental illness and which one are you talking about? -SPLIT PERSONALITY DISORDER, SCHIZOPHRENIA, BIPOLAR, SCHIZOAFFECTIVE DISODER? DRUGS ARE NEVER THE ANSWER. I WAS ADDICTED TO PAXIL FOR 15 YEARS FOR SHYNESS AND DEPRESSION AND I AM NOW 100% PERCENT SEXUALLY DYSFUNCTIONAL, HAVE ANHEDONIA - NO FEELINGS WHATSOEVER AND CHRONIC INSOMNIA. I NEVER HAD THESE IN MY LIFE. I AM COMPLETELY PHUCKED UP. I CANNOT FEEL I LOVE ANYONE AND I CANNOT SLEEP.
I think more fool people on here that think these medications are good. I have bipolar i have a ton of Zoloft sitting here i refuse to take because i know better then to pump my body full of this crap.
There are safer and better alternatives out there some of which i use myself.
any chemical or drug that effects the brain cant be doing much good.
i welcome any of you to come over and have some zoloft maybe make a document on what it does to your body.
@MrPannlob and sorry for keeping on writing. but I must add that the antagonism probably result in Dopamine and noradrenaline increase as stated in S.M Stahls book. I miswrote a part to. I Meant 5ht2a-antagonism not 5ht2-antagonism even though it's a subreceptor. The activating effect of antagonism (noradrenaline-dopamine disinhibitation) is something one can feel if one for instance try fluoxetin with its 5ht2c-antagonism which can give a antidepressive effect from day 1 or 2..
@MrPannlob and as a little addition. one can do some research by his/her own. There are 5ht2 receptors in orbitalprefrontalcortex and visual cortex. It's quite likely stimulation of visual cortex(or if it is stimulation, I am under the impression serotonin got an deactivating effect, and maybe that forces the brain to make up crap). 5ht2-antagonism is in atypical neuroleptic for instance. I guess it triess to address OrbPFC because that area is related to goalorientation ackording to wikipedia..
@JayPull85 Actually, theres too much to write. It's not impossible that SSRI stimulates 5ht2a-receptors. I have never tried LSD but I think anyone who think SSRI would give that feeling would be disappointed. SSRI is quite unselective in reality. And ALL SSRI differs in profile. Fluoxetine and Agomelatine got 5ht2c-antagonism for instance. I would actually refer to Stephen M Stahls book.

.. LSD , what a bullshit. The only thing that makes them "work like LSD" is that theyre agonising 5ht2a-agonists, some SSRI more selective than others. The agonism of ht2a should result in downregulation of receptor which will result in an increase in dopamine which should hypothetically render the effect the opposite of the ht2a. .However I care more about real problems with those meds. SSRI apathy(iatrogenic anhedonia(?), PSSD. Iam not fond of those pharmas pills either, but keep it real.

SSRI's are like LSD minus any positive or mind expanding effects... and that makes a very crappy drug.

And those who have lost their lives as a result of not having been treated for serious mental illness? Who speaks for them?

Anyone with a need to so heavily emphasize her credentials is not qualified to speak ill of LSD.
She needs psychotherapy, and it may not help. She needs an Ayahuasca journey or something.
