QUESTION: what size is my wheel, 16", 20", 24", 26" ?
ANSWER: Wheel size is determined by the size of the tire it will receive. In each case the wheel or rim diameter is actually smaller than the so called 16", 20", 24", 26" size wheel because the tire must be on the wheel to measure up. For example:
WHEEL(RIM)
16" is actually 12 1/2" diameter + 1.75" tire width on both sides = 16" overall
20" is actually 16 1/2" diameter + 1.75" tire width on both sides = 20" overall
24" is actually 20 1/2" diameter + 1.75" tire width on both sides = 24" overall
26" is actually 22 1/2" diameter + 1.75" tire width on both sides = 26" overall
If your tire size is wider then your overall diameter would a little bigger.
For example:
20" is actually 16 1/2" diameter + 2.125" tire width on both sides = 20.75" overall
24" is actually 20 1/2" diameter + 2.125" tire width on both sides = 24.75" overall
26" is actually 22 1/2" diameter + 2.125" tire width on both sides = 26.75" overall
or
20" is actually 16 1/2" diameter + 3.0" tire width on both sides = 22.50" overall
24" is actually 20 1/2" diameter + 3.0" tire width on both sides = 26.50" overall
26" is actually 22 1/2" diameter + 3.0" tire width on both sides = 28.50" overall
