Alternative Spelling...

At the Marriage Equality USA 2010 Golden Gate Bridgewalk in San Francisco, CA on Sunday morning, September 26, 2010, we came across a gentleman who wore a sign that read "MARRIAGE ALWAY ='S 1 MAN & 1 WOMAN". He explained to us that the police allowed this sign to be worn while crossing the bridge and that some words were spelled wrong because it was alternative spelling which was against the law in school. After I stopped recording, he said something akin to gay marriage being wrong. A few seconds after that, I said to my friend something akin to, "It's not about gay or straight, it's about love or hate, and hate is wrong."

Alternative spelling? Um, yeah, the reason it's not allowed in schools is because it would be damn near impossible to communicate if we all 'spelled alternatively'...

In 1967 when Loving v. Virginia went to the supreme court in the USA it struck down 16 state laws about blacks not marrying whites.

So you only need to go back 50 years not centuries.

A creative attempt but the idea he didn't check with other people to see what they thought of the wording does sort of say something about his attitude.

Remember folks - if you make a sign and other people don't get it or go "you spelled this wrong" it might be time to think about what you have written.

This homophobe didn't do that.

i see proper spelling is not taught in being a bigot 101 classes around the state i have seen so many of these people with misspelled signs etc and i just laugh cause if they can't spell right then be to honest they are clearly unable to think right and for themselves and marriage in the context of classical marriage( as they want it) that man would not be allowed to merry anyone as true classical marriage was not allowed for blacks..but i guess he missed History class that day..good video.
