KUD Gerdan from Ohrid, Macedonia, performing "Zetvarka " (Wheat harvesting). The dances demonstrate harvesting with sickles, gathering the wheat in bundles, threshing and then celebrating the rich harvest.
The dance starts slowly and moderately and finishes of enthusiastically.
The costumes are made out of silk, predominately white with red belts, handkerchief, scarves etc.
"Gerdan" is an Macedonian amateur folk group which is formed in the distant 1968 in the town of Ohrid, Macedonia.
In its more that fourty years of existance the group has gained experiance and quality in performance, becoming a frequent participant on famous and celebrated festivals
