Atfer listening to this, I feel it was originally recorded to reel-to-reel , probably for the sake of editing/pausing etc and then the master tape was transferred to this record and shipped to America. I also heard them say "Thanks for taking care of our daughter', the the french family's daughter must have been in America for those holidays. Not sure. Regardless, Its a neat item simply because in th days before cassette tapes, CD's, home videos and webcams.......This was a very unique way of sending a holiday greeting to someone. What a joy it must have been for the recipient to hear their voices!

Also, It is cut in microgroove and at 33RPM. Between the clues of the original reel-to-reel sounds, and this speed and cut combination, i would personally guess it to be from the 60's, Though it could be from the 50's as well if the person was tech savvy and had some neat toys! [EDIT: A FRIEND TRANSLATED AND SAID THE YEAR 1961 WAS MENTIONED]

  • This is fun! The guys accent is fantastic, kinda stiff though.. lol.

  • @CrisVangel1958 Funny you mention this video.l I just got an interesting e-mail from someone claiming to be doing a study of some sort and wanted an MP3 of this record, so If I hear back from them with an e-mail address, i'm going to record the whole thing...with piano parts included (per request) soon. Love it. LOVE finding these things!

  • i love those very much too.i never pass one up when i see one.

it does seem alot of them are filled with bad piano or opera, hahah.

the ones with talking are so cool.its like a time machine into the past.

  • @chompo7 Glad im not alone! Seems NOONE else ever buys them, and heres me who NEVER passes on up. They are always a dollar or less....but yes, LOTS of homemade paino recordings. I also have one of a preachers sermon. It will be uploaded soon, not for content, but because its a metal record....no black acetate coating.

  • VERY interesting!
