Give him a cube of ice as well, another funny thing to watch them figure out how to eat.

give him an egg to play with, it's very funny. he/she could easily bite it and destroy it but they'll poke with it for like 10 minutes until they finally get fed up and either bite it or squash it with a paw. I give my Rhodesian an egg, uncooked, just a regular egg. He pushes it around for a while chews on it without breaking it, then eventually just slams it with his paw and eats it, egg, shell and all.
