Sunday's Best (Trailer)

Sundays Best is inspired by Arsht Center's "Free Gospel Sundays" and commissioned by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the film was created by two local filmmakers Marlon Johnson and Chad Tingle. The documentary explores the tradition of crowns and features women who wear extraordinary hats to church services on Sundays. Focusing on the tradition within Miamis own black community, the film incorporates interviews, vintage and contemporary photography and, of course, gospel music. This documentary film is the first project inspired by an Adrienne Arsht Center-presented program.
