Faye Dunaway and Bette Davis. " I never thought we would recover her body. It was too precious to the angels!" Evangelist Aimee McPherson disappears for over a month - but was she kidnapped or slung up with her married lover? Bette's disdain for Faye is now the stuff of legend, but director Anthony Harvey puts it all in perspective by revealing that Davis wanted to increase the dialogue of her character in the big confrontation scene, while Dunaway stood her ground and refused to change the balance of the script in Davis' favor. Bette got her revenge by bad-mouthing Dunaway until the day she died. With Lelia Goldoni and James Woods.

  • This movie is unintentionally campy--but Aime was an unintenionally campy personality wasn't she? Faye and Bette act up a storm--Yes, Bette couldn't stand that Faye was driving around in a limo swilling champagne while thousands of extras broiled in the mid day sun. When an enebriated Faye showed up,Bette's stare could have bored holes through her!!!!! But Bette was also probably not happy her role was small compared to Faye.

  • @windstorm1000 Bette said Faye drove around at night in a limo doing her swilling (Faye denies) and admits on her Johnny Carson appearance that Faye was only twenty minutes late one day, which allowed Bette to do her " I've written a letter to Daddy" routine for the extras. Davis should have sent Faye flowers for giving her the opportunity to grand stand. And director Anthony Harvey backs Dunaway's version.

  • Davis had also wanted to play Aimee herself since the 1940s but it was impossible because of the censorship at the time. THANKS for posting this, I've been wanting to watch it for years.
