  • A bit of an error I found, a 20% pay increase will increase the labor portion of the item being produced.

  • I think you are quite right, thank you for the correction! :)

  • Financial class, using a myriad of tactics, is blowing out the rest of the economy, will come back and swoop all up for pennies on the dollar, they've done it before (Pre WW1 Britain, excellent example) and they'll do it again. Stef your focus is too narrow, unions yes, but other reasons too.

  • I'm not sure that I claimed it was the only reason, and I did only have about 10 minutes of course! :)

  • Re: big unions

My stepfather was a lifetime union worker in the steel industry. He was pissed about his employer Bethlehem steel going under and cutting his pension, blaming it on "lousy Jap steel". In that same discussion he bragged about the most lazy, wasteful, and greedy employee behaviors I have ever seen, and didn't see anything wrong. People like him have collectively destroyed entire industries and the families that depended on them. And yet remain blind to that fact.

  • See, I agree with you philosophically, but not historically. The fact of the matter is that unions, with the exception of those in the public sector, have not gotten any favors from the government. Yes, the government raised tariffs and gave subsidies, but that was largely at the behest of the corporations. Unions have been hemmed in by bans on secondary strikes, boycotts, closed shops, and sit-ins. Unions would be far more powerful in the free market.

  • @oldhacks well hot damn, hacks. I didn't know you had trolled this video....I see you're still spreading your socialist propaganda hahah. Hope all is well man

  • @stefbot Not if you also include the labor in those industries associated with the auto industry directly!

Pay always goes to a person. When a company buys "steel", "fabric", etc, the money always goes to a person.

  • There's a temptation to stipulate that a trade union could conceivably be non-coercive. But, I challenge you to point out any actual case in history.

  • Elgreedo strikes again

  • Another point to add is that the "new slave owners" have to run a totalitarian regime to control their own workers. E.g. film censorship in Asia is unlike most other countries, even Monty Python's Life of Brian, and Meaning of Life are *banned*. So without wealthy nations' greed, millions of Asians wouldn't be brainwashed.

"Fess up" means - make an accurate estimate of how much you own that is made in Asia. That much sponsors religious totalitarianism in Asia.

  • yer dumeys dont wont to know its to much for them

to take it means all them think they know is bullshit.

    and they dont like that

  • His books are all available for free.
