Solid State Drives have been around for a very long time, this will probably come out when the need for 3D, higher resolution and image quality than HD will make the bluray disc obsolete, which is in 2 to 3 years i'd say

@louismostert HDD drives are literally running out of time....however, now with the introduction on SDD, these have the opp to take leadership and exploded as techmonster noted, hope this technology could get the attention to be develop in parallel to avoid getting to the point no other technology to be ready by the time SDD gets its limit
