This year WIKIPEDIA celebrated its 10th anniversary -- a great occasion to honor what a lot of people achieved together and to ensure the continued existence of WIKIPEDIA as a platform of free knowledge.

Ok, maybe I' a bit late on this. But I believe this is basically a great idea. Of course this would be a first, UNESCO recognizing a website as part of the world heritage, but even if this particular idea doesn't work out, it's still worth a try. Maybe we will find something similar for websites or other digital "heritage", as UNESCO already established for historic sites around the world.

Since when UNESCO accepts websites that publish crap and false information? Wikipedia is far from a technological phenomenon (LOL) or a cultural achievement (LOL).
