@jimduyon Watch out! Dangerous, smearing one who preaches Christ crucified, risen and returning, and Jesus the only way to eternal life. He's saying: Put NOTHING in the way of someone accepting Christ. Someone making a true profession will mature as a disciple. "Straight the gate & narrow the way" is not permission to make it harder for the lost to meet Christ. Jesus demanded the ruler abandon riches because he knew his true heart - riches would always come first. "Sad?" Self-righteousness.
I agree with Andy, churches make it so complicated that people aren't even trying to learn about God. I know many people who thru churches like this have come to learn about Jesus and become saved and then taken the steps to be the Christians that God wants us to be, not just "church people" who believe they are holier than thou and not reaching out to help those that are truly lost. Pastor Andy changed my life thru his messages of God's promises to us.
Let me add something further, Andy took this passage scripture out of context...this was a situation when the early church was developing was trying to take all of the Jewish regulations, and pass them onto the gentiles. James spoke up against this. This is scary people, the GOSPEL is being destroyed!
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the post modern church! Let's make it easy!!!! That's just what Jesus did when the rich young ruler came to Jesus and said, "I want to follow you" How easy did Jesus make it for him? The church today has become a giant social club trying to get as many people as they can to come, but are we creating true Christians or are we producing simply "good people" So sad that sermons like this are being taught.....

Gee, I dunno. Why do belligerent atheists haunt religious videos/websites/blogs and post sneering adolescent comments?
Beats me.

Codswallop. Why do otherwise sensible people still cling to bronze age myth regurgitated from the legends of previous godlings?
