Whitney sounds terrible now. Her voice is barely a shadow of what it used to be. Mariah's voice obviously isn't as strong as it was, we all know that. However she cans till belt her notes and sustain them. Whitney can't do that!

@Devotedlamb19 DUDE! i was just about to send him the same link before i read your last comment! lol great minds think alike ;) she has also lipsynched a performance of you give good love in the 80s. those are the only lipsynched performances of hers that i've seen though so yeah she's basically a lipsynch virgin

@theclient2k I'm not trying to dispute anything,& 4 me the topic is over.I've my viewpoint and you have yours which i'm not trying to change.I say what i think according to what i've heard and read about Mariah at the very beginning of her career.i read lots of things that came to hands at that time and Whitney was only mentioned in parts referring to voice similarities and rivalry.Anyways,i have nthg against Whit 'cos she was my fave along with Madonna before Mariah.:)

@theclient2k Yes,i do.When she started singing i was 14 and since then i'm a fan.Maybe you weren't even born.Her debut album was Mariah Carey and at that time her biography was already circulating in the mass media and so on and she never mentioned Whitney as an influence.She started to mention her as an influence after they sang 2gether,as far as i know.I told you, it's just out of sheer modesty that she mentions Whit as an influence.What else could she say??

@felo4444 Your trying to dispute a time frame which makes no sense at all to me. Fact is she says Whitney's name more then once and ALL of them were BEFORE they sang together only one (the Oprah one) was at that time the rest were before. Look at her hair styles and the people interviewing her NONE of them are recent as a matter a fact the special on her was in the beginning of her career and your still trying to dispute it....REALLY???

@felo4444 Do you know what Mariah looked like in the beginning of her career? Im asking cause a FEW of the vids I told you about were in the beginning of her career. I dont know who did or didnt so I just have to take her word for it just like you will and she SAYS out of her own mouth MORE THEN ONCE WHITNEY!!! Consistency issues need to be taken up with Ms Carey. Lets ONLY deal with FACT and the fact is she says Whitney influenced her and she says it more then once

yeah,that's my point!Why not mention Whitney at the beginning?Back then she never admitted it.But she mentiones other famous names.Why did she have to wait such a long time to say that?Specifically wait until after they sang together(8 years later) to mention Whitney as an influence.that's my point.What i see in those vids where she mentions Whitney as an influence in her career is sheer modesty for me.Sorry to disagree even with Mariah herself.:):)

@theclient2k I'm referring to the beginning of Mariah's career.In order to create her biography,obviously and according to the internet encyclopedia, she was asked who her major influences were and Whitney's name is nowhere to be seen when it comes to terms of influential names on Mariah's style and career. that's where my opinion's based upon.Why didn't Mariah mention Whitney as an influence at the beginning of her career?:):)
