This is a 6-minute sampler of songs performed by The Lumberjacks at the PCRWestCoast Reunion Concert at the Gold Coast Casino in Las Vegas last August 7, 2010.

My apologies for our great emcee who couldn't seem to wait until the applause died down before saying, "Can we have the lights on please!".

LUMBERJACKS 2010:

Meet Chito, Vic & Benji! Listen to their cool groove and melodic harmony when they sing Lettermen songs at the PCR concert. It will be memorable reunion!
Chito and Vic were members of the original Lumberjacks from the 60s. In 1984, they got reunited in Los Angeles and formed the 'Maynila Band' with Benji Saldua on keyboards and female singer Bobbi Dimon. In the 90s, Jessica Maico took over as lead female singer. They later renamed the group, 'Light & Shadow band' and continued to rock the L.A. music scene until the early 2000s. Benji now plays for The Robins Band.

LUMBERJACKS 1963-1970 & BEYOND:

The 'Lumberjacks' was formed in 1963 by Robert Aquino, son of a lumber magnate from Butuan City. The original members were the Jongko brothers VIC, BOY and ART, CHITO Sibayan and ROLLY Ramos.

The Lumberjacks played at concerts in Manila. In 1968, they signed to a multi-year contract with D'Swan Records and produced 3 long-playing records and a couple dozen 45rpm singles. The Lumberjacks became an instant jukebox favorite!

In 1970, Vic and Chito regrouped as the 'Black Opinion', and played soul music to U.S. servicemen at the Harlem Club in Olongapo, and traveled back & forth to Roponggi and Shinjuku, Japan. Chito later joined the 4 Notes+1.

In the mid 70s, Vic formed the New Versions and performed at Wells Fargo Club & El Dorado Hotel in Manila, and at the HK Plaza Hotel in Hongkong.

Chito joined the Grandells and concentrated on making records and commercials. One famous jingle was 'Ahit Ruby, Ahit Pogi!'. In 1979, Chito was a finalist at the 2nd Metro-Pop Festival with his composition, 'Itay, Saan Ka Man Naroroon'.

  • Ang ganda, Bro. Benji! I closed my eyes and what I heard singing were the LETTERMEN! This video is far better than the previous ones you sent. Audio-visuals are very clear. Congrats in this latest venture of yours. Thanks for sharing.
