From what I've read, Bows were removed because of the difficulty the Wii-mote would have with the running-while-charging ability bows had. Hunting Horns were replaced with the dances that your companion can perform. I don't know the reason for duals or GLs tho.

I don't get why they removed Bows, Hunting Horns, Dual Blades and Gunlances so we could get fucking Medium Bowgun. WTF IS THIS FOR!? I mean, Slash Axes and stuff are cool, BUT WTF!?
