my koi spawning

My female goromo and male kohaku breeding at around 1:30 dawn.I hope it will produce a good combination;kujaku ,ai goromo,goshiki.The tank here is just for spawning.I am using this small tank so there would be a greater chance for the eggs and sperms to met.After the fertilization,1 hour or so.I then transfer the spawning rope and screen with eggs to a large 300gallons hatching pond and leave them to hatch.

@aquazkoi the usual is one month where in you feed the female with high protein feeds.but if your female is already bloated with eggs,a week would be sufficient to bored the males till they'll be sex craving...:-)

@aquazkoi you mean before breeding?yes,you should separate them so that the scent of the female will have a great effect on the male when you introduce the male to the tank.what happen is when you don't separate them the male will get used to the female's scent and it won't get that excited....

How old are these fish? And how do you tell male from female?

just put long strands of rope about 8 inches between to tie wires(if you can paint the tie wires or find some stainless wire the better).next is twist twist twist...:-).just like the one you see in filter brush.
