Quake 2 Done Quick 2 speedrun (part 1/3)

I've been looking for this on youtube and found nothing... Quake done Quick with a Vengeance is here, but there's no sign of Q2DQ2...
(edit: ok, so i'm an idiot, it's already here, but still, this thing is HD and with hires textures...)

Well, since Quake 2 is one of my all-time favourite games, I've decided to record and upload Q2DQ2 myself. At first, I considered just starting Fraps and recording the whole run in Quake 2. But since nobody has recorded Q2DQ2, I thought it deserved a little more, if just for the effort put into making of this speedrun.

So not only I was going to record q2dq2, I decided to make it look nice. And when you want Quake 2 to look nice nowadays, you go for Quake 2 Evolved, preferably with hires textures. But with Q2E, Fraps was... unusable, kind of. Well, once it started, it was possible to keep smooth 30FPS, but the loading lags killed it. That's where kkapture came in. kkapture puts itself between the app and video driver and takes control of video timing. So it doesn't matter if your HDDs just aren't catching up, kkapture makes the game wait.

But man, Q2E was a bitch to kkapture. I mean, about 20% recordings just froze on the id logo. And since Q2E can't run the whole thing, I had to record every fucking single map by hand, like, start Q2E, go to console, type "demo [whatever]", wait for the demo to finish and then forcedly shut down Q2E because it always froze at the end of the level.

Anyways, I managed to get it done and here it is, recorded at 1024x768 with some added brightness (y'know, quake2's a little bit dark, so a lot of times, you wouldn't see anything, and you certainly don't want to miss the tricks in this speedrun).

wait a sec.... you know how to double jump but you aren't circle jumping to move faster?

I could see places where you wouldn't want to due to possibly bumping into stuff, but still... could improve your time by ALOT.

The team behind this restricted their jumping, as this was their initial attempt, and they also wanted this run to be aesthetically pleasant and framerate independent.

This game's graphics are hella good for an oldie. It looks more fun than 1 and 3 two. Reminds me of Turok.

@CodyRicheson Im guessing they glitched the game where the gun pulling out at the start of the level was haulted by something the player was doing, so it doesnt appear until a later level

@Naroon201 actually, you chose weather to be male or female, but many high-level players exploit the fact that the female model is slightly smaller and harder to hit than the male counterpart.
