When I decided to put together a DVD of the Ahmenheltab "documentary" and the tomb tour video as a gift to everyone in the department that helped on the project, I also wanted to have DVD "extras." So, I made this slide show of the many Egyptian paintings we made for the tomb walls. I tried to recreate real Egyptian Art when I could (although we did not have time to be as detailed as the real thing). Some artwork used in the "tomb" was inspired by works of artist Richard Deurer ( http://www.egyptartsite.com ). This added a bit of humor to the project. I painted large sections of white butcher paper with a terra cotta colored tempura paint for the background of the walls (it took about 10 gallons). It dried splotchy and uneven but tha made the walls look old, cracked and weathered. When I ran out of this paint I swithced to using just plain brown boxing paper (from our mail room). We used a projector to shine real images on to the butcher paper. Then we traced the images with pencil. Basically we created a giant colloring book which we then colored in all the images with paint.

Every October each department in my company dresses up their area for Halloween and competes against the other departments. In 2005 my department created an Egyptian tomb of the mummy Ahmenheltab. We won "Best of Show" for that year.
