On July 25, 2010, I was on I485 headed North towards W. T. Harris Blvd when a NC State Trooper passed me doing over 85mph. He didn't have his sirens or lights on. I followed him keeping a safe distance so he wouldn't notice I was filming him.

He exited at the Northlake Mall (W. T. Harris Blvd.) and sat patiently in line at the stop light.

I guess his reason for speeding didn't include a need to run a red light at a fairly empty intersection.

Feel free to contact me for a higher resolution video.

  • You obviously have nothing better to do? You cant prove he was speeding or if he was trying to catch up to a speeder. But you did video tape yourself commiting a crime. Way to go Captain Catch'em!

  • @ellejw2 Chasing a speeder, then sitting at a stop light? Chasing a speeder without lights? I can't prove he was speeding? I was pacing him, it's a legally allowable form of evidence.

  • i'd say the danderous one is the idiot filming and driving, and if he was breaking the law, which is still in question since they can speed even without lights or siren under certain cases (g.s. 20-141) the law being broken filming and driving is an even more serious one.

  • @jimme836 Ha. I love how the general statute that you quote fails to mention anything about it being legal for law enforcement to speed without lights or siren. You might want to re-read that G.S.

  • Fact is they do what they want I have seen them speed many times

  • Anybody can be as good a driver as a trooper, go out practice on some roads out in the country at night

  • i dont want to sound like an ass but i never saw him pass you? ....and you caught up to him...so who was actually speeding ?

  • 1. You couldnt of known he was speeding, you were a mile behind him. 2. You had no clue where he was going and I highly doubt it was the mall since on duty, uniformed troopers go shopping in the middle of their shift. 3. Your concerned with a trained trooper speeding, while your driving 80 mph holding a video camera. Your so concerned with the trooper breaking the law while your breaking the law yourself... Get a life!

  • How do you know he wasnt hurrying to get to a call but then got cancelled. A lot of police speed to calls and dont use their lights cause IDIOTS do stupid stuff like stopping in the middle of the road, cutting police off etc....when they see the lights. It's easier just to drive without them.

  • @lokiracer You lost me, GS 15A-287 just seems to be giving guidelines on "wiretapping"

Not filming anyone in the general public

  • is your speedometer certified every year?? if not.... you dont have a proper pacing case

  • You're a putz!

  • Just saw a cop let another cop going after doing 120mph. Must be nice. I just paid $250 and did a 4 hour defensive driving course for doing 80 in a 65. BTW my driving record was clean up until that point. Brotherly love?
