apple is far from competing with PCs. they can't even offer low priced computers like pcs. most apple comp users just like the mac os interface.

@edmondov you're right that they can't offer computers for people with lower incomes who by the cheapest of computers. But for people who can afford them they are really the best. And they aren't really that expensive for what they offer:

cheapest desktop: 699.

cheapest laptop: 999

@gcsjulian Apple computers are overpriced because they think they are special. Most of the parts are not made by them. They would be screwed without intel and Nvidia. You could probably build a MAC for less than 500 bucks but they won't let you do that so they can suck up all your money. If they want to spread their "special" OS by offering at a ridiculous price then they will never beat Microsoft. They have been successful with their gadgets but that will not last very long.

@edmondov What makes an item overpriced is if you think it is not worth the money you pay for it. It is all a matter of personal opinion. For every computer company, all parts are NOT made by that company. Pretty much every computer would be screwed without Intel and Nvidia. You take away those companies, and dell, or hp would be screwed as well as apple. If a company like apple creates a great operating system they can choose to sell that for whatever price they wants. @gcsjulian Exactly!! The same people bitching about 999 for a computer watch the super bowl on 1,500 tv's!!

It's all relative. People afford what they want one way or another. Problem with a cheap PC is after you build it then you have to buy 249.00 OS (49.99 for OSX by Apple) then Virus scan it, another 100 bucks a year and PC mechanic it for another 100 bucks because of registry problems so after a little addition you quickly see that PC owners are still in for more on PC they just cant add!

@edmondov I can remember not very long ago, PC was far more expensive. But either way he didn't steal his operating system like MICROSOFT did form APPLE. So your PC you love so much my friend runs on the OS stolen from Apple!! So even you benefit from Apple.
