Back when there was actual CALM in a newscast - good times, right there
-
Except, WTVJ did eventually in 1992 adopt a logo that was identical to KNBCs.

This is from the Miami Herald (9/12/1989):
"His holdout lasted 53 days. When it finally ended Monday, the education of Sammie Smith scarcely took 53 minutes to begin.
"The running back out of Florida State, drafted ninth overall and counted on to fortify a punchless Dolphin ground game, signed a four-year, $2.52 million contract inside the executive offices of Joe Robbie Stadium and an hour or so later was catching -- catching up, actually -- on a practice field at St. Thomas University."
-
It looks like WTVJ's 4 logo had closely the earliest modern 4 logo, just not italicized which other NBC 4 O&Os would follow suit in a few years.
-
I'm not sure if WBZ-TV will have the 4 Logo on 0:04

Why would news stations separate the 5:oo Hour into 2 parts? What made 5:30 so special from 5?
hkfreak 4 years ago
Some stations treat the 5PM as a big hour. Others split it up.
It's an opportunity to change anchors and basically "start fresh." When people are coming home from work in the afternoon, they might miss the beginning of the 5pm news. But if they get home at 5:25, they can catch the start of the 5:30 news and feel like they're catching a newscast from the beginning, not somewhere in the middle.
Oftentimes, 5:30 shows are more feature-oriented or franchise-oriented.
