Spencer the 14 month old American Pitbull Terrier meets a 14 month old baby for the first time. Spencer has seen babies from a distance but this was the first time he had one this up close and personal. When the baby first showed up he had done his happy dance and rudely started to lick the baby all over. Right from the start we set the boundaries with Spencer. Be calm and no licking or being too pushy. Respect the baby's space. Spencer gave some tongue flicks at us at times because what he really wanted to do was to lick that babies face up, but we told him he must not be so pushy. That was a challenge for him. Once we set the boundaries it was as if Spencer the Pit Bull grew up with babies all his life. He was excellent with the baby. Bruno the Boxer was still recovering from his ACL surgery so he was restricted to his X-pen, but he loved the baby too. See more of Spencer growing up at DogBreedInfo.com.

  • A pit's only fault is the unusual devotion to their owners and a willingness to do *what-ever* their owner asks of them, contrary to their nature or not. It's PEOPLE who choose to take that devotion, love and trust, and corrupt it for their own sick purposes.

Cute video :) Pits are just great dogs.

  • Dogs are smart enough to give you a warning before they attack. This dog obviously did not see the baby as a threat. I could tell by its body language that the baby's presence made the dog comfortable and happy.

  • @yossi5867 Dog's don't have "a reflex" as you put it. More often than not, it's the owner's lack of training the dog to take a submissive role in ALL social situations with humans. This is actually a case of GREAT training for the dog, especially with it being such a young age. This is more so a good job owners than anything else.

  • Most of the time, a baby is just a puppy to a dog. They allow the baby/puppy to commit errors of social gaffes and just assume that they will be teaching the baby/puppy the rules without injury. My experience. Some dogs have problems and aggression issues and cannot be trusted just like some people cannot be trusted. Same diff.

  • I really don't think it's smart ... Nice and cute until the dog have a reflex ... U better be safe than sorry .... - my wife dog bit her grandpa - she said it was the best dog ever .....

  • @iconnu Correction "I used to be an Adventurer like yourself, but then i took an arrow in the knee."

  • @phantomwaltz I suggest you watch a dog training class and observe how the instructor directs the clients to have authority over the dog. Besides that, small things like ALWAYS walking through doors first, giving commands in a deep voice & making the dog do something (like a sit) for anything it wants will tell the animal you are dominant.

  • Spencer is a big boy!! Lovely coat too!

  • What that dog did has nothing to do with the breed. Everything to do with how that dog was trained. Ever decade or whatever people chose a different breed of dogs to hate. When really it has everything to do with training and how the dog was raised.

  • lol that was to cute how the baby kinda slapped it in a happy way and he just wagged his tail and ingored it it cracked me up i had to replay it lol

  • @melissasue28 trust me you should get one i have 4 of them and they are the most loveable things ever once you get one you wont want any other dog after (my opinion) i sure dont but yes i recommend them to anybody they my children so i tell everyone thats how much youll fall in love wit it ;)
