ZHANG:
Security officials and bystanders took cover outside the Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai today--it's the other major spot terrorists have been working out of. Indian commandos inside have tried to take control of the tourist spot.
STORY:
One army commander says at least one militant may still be holding two hostages in the luxury Taj Mahal hotel, 36 hours after coordinated attacks in the city killed at least 121 people.
The commander says that almost all guests and staff have been evacuated from the Taj and the operation will be wrapped up there in a few hours.
Gunfire is still being heard at the hotel.
An estimated 25 men armed with assault rifles and grenades -- at least some of whom arrived by sea -- fanned out across Mumbai on Wednesday the 26th. They attacked popular tourist sites, including the city's top two luxury hotels.
Police say at least seven attackers were killed and nine suspects have been taken into custody. Twelve policemen are dead, including the chief of Mumbai's anti-terrorist squad.
At least eight foreigners, including two Australians, a Briton, a Canadian, an Italian and a Japanese national were killed. Scores of others have been trapped in the fighting or held hostage. Police say nearly 300 people have been wounded.
