We were horrified to find this rat had crawled up the sewer into our toilet. Fortunately Rascal was there to help!

Update 11/25/2011 - Lol we never would have guessed how worked-up people would get over this video. FYI true story:

- As of today Rascal is actually dead (unfortunately run over by a car in our neighborhood many months ago while a friend was cat-sitting and we were out of town). So sorry to all of you who want to kill "the cat", or shoot a video of your dog attacking him, etc. Too late. Sickos.

- The rat was still alive as of 30min following the end of this video (don't know if it's still alive today since this video is almost a year old). Rascal didn't kill it just batted it around a bit then we ended up letting it go in the backyard. Honestly we felt kind of bad after letting it go and watching it scurry away given it might have invaded someone else's home, but that squeaking was tough to bear and we couldn't bring ourselves to kill it.

- Why did we pull out a phone and film this event? At first we just wanted to document the disgusting creature in our toilet. We thought maybe we'd would show it to an exterminator as evidence of what might be infesting our home, or to friends to see if this kind of thing has happened to them before. Then Rascal showed up. We felt a bit like Nat Geo photographers at that point and just went with it.

- Why did we post the video on YouTube? 1. For others who have a rat crawl up the sewer into their toilet and are desperately Googling (like we did) to see if this is a common occurrence. 2. For those who find it as fascinating as we did that, first of all, rats can climb through the sewer into toilets. And second of all, that even domestic indoor house cats retain the basic instinct to attack their natural prey. Sure those who have outdoor cats have no doubt experienced them bringing home a dead rat or two. But how many who have indoor cats have had them catch a rat, let alone observed it happen? We thought it was plenty interesting enough to post for others.

SPOILER ALERT: Rascal paws the rat and it squeaks. Then he grabs the rat in his mouth and it squeaks some more. If this is going to bother you, or "break your heart", or make you wish we were dead (seriously get a life losers) THEN BE SMART AND DON'T WATCH!
