  • Thank you, guys, for being so supportive. I notified the BBB yesterday, and I also notified the CPSC and the FTC. Best of all, I e-mailed my attorney general with all the statistics, facts, and everything. I think the next step is to inform Clark Howard.

I don't care if they offer to fix my computer for free... This isn't about me.. it's about everyone who has been lied to and hurt by this, and I'm going to fight until justice is achieved because no one deserves to be treated so poorly.

  • Hmm, I've never had any major issues with an HP Desktop, but I've never used their laptops before.

If it's only this series people are having major issues with, could it be just something effed up with the chipset (which are probably outsourced from somewhere else)? I recall a few years ago a ton of some company's laptops being recalled due to overheating issues or something like that.

I've never had to call tech support before, but it does help my dad is a computer expert.

  • @takarifreak I just found out that apparently it's the TX2000 series and the DV series as well. And I think there's quite a bit more. I did some more research and you're right, it's over heating and a defect of the nVidia chip.

*kinda beyond me, I'm not THAT computer literate*

My dad was a computer expert as well, but unfortunately he isn't alive anymore. I'm pretty sure if he was then he would have already notified Microsoft since he was close to them.

  • Buy a Taiwanese brand like Acer or Asus, they are really great! PCs are great and I love Windows 7, don't waste your money on a Mac.

  • @AlexanderArts HAHA ok! I'm going to look those up right now. I haven't had a chance to use Windows 7 yet either so I'm taking your advice! :D

  • I smell a Class action!

But don't get a Mac! Don't let one horrible experience ruin the PC revolution for you!

  • @Resulka Amen! Apparently a class-action was filed a while ago, but I can't find much info on it anywhere. Regardless, HP is still lying to us. I read the document on hp

and was absolutely amazed at what the case managers have been telling people.

  • Hey if any one wants to get rid of his hp laptop I am happy to take it where I live laptops and electronics in general way to expensive (:

  • lets Burn down HP HQ!!! Whos with me!!!

  • I have an HP laptop :( It's older than yours though I think and it's pretty generic. Good luck!

  • @OOcloud36 Yeah, do some research on those two, see what you think. I own an Asus now and I used to work with Acers at my previous job. We had a lot less trouble with them and they didn't overheat like the American brands. Acer bought out Packard Bell and Gateway a while back too. In 2009 Acer became the 2nd biggest computer company pushing Dell down to 3rd.

  • @martinitime1975 That's smart. I was just telling myself last night that I really should learn how to build my own computers from now on because it seems many companies just program their equipment to break.

  • That sucks. This is why I will never get a laptop of my own (I have a company laptop). I build my own pc's, I had enough of retail pc's and all the proprietary hardware and junk software.
