Qwest hosted a friendly between Man Utd and Celtic back in 2003. They laid grass for that.

Sounders FC also has a match against the EPL Chelsea FC on July 18th

They have hosted international matches before. Last year Brazil and Canada played each other at qwest and this year on July 4th the U.S. Mens National team will play Grenada for a CONCACAF gold cup match.
I believe they use turf because it's easier to manage than real grass.
