The problem this guy has is that he has no idea that true Islam IS Radical AND Violent. You CANNOT separate Militant oppression and violence from Islam any more than you can separate "prophet" Muhammad from Islam.
Every time he tries to 'Moderate' & 'Civilise' Islam, it will be the very Quran and Hadith THEMSELVES that will stand unmoveably in his way. Peace in Islam comes ONLY when 1 single Muslim sect has conquered and dominated the WHOLE WORLD, and NEVER until that point.
