Maybe Mike and Sulley did met in grade school, but just don't recognize each other when they met again for the first time in years, I mean not all college students would remember all of their classmates after grade school. And this is just one trailer and they can be misleading sometimes, so let's not jump to conclusions until the movie is actually released.

There's an article online that explains that they spent years with a story that had them meet in 4th grade. It didn't work. So, they realized that it's ONE FREAKING LINE and decided not to sacrifice an entire movie based on it. Honestly, it could EASILY be interpreted as exaggeration. I mean, I've been aware of this problem since I was in diapers man. :P

Maybe they weren't in the same fourth grade class together and hardly knew each other, so maybe it's true, or maybe it's an expression.

When Mike met Sulley in college, he probably was a lot different than 4th grade Sulley so he hardly recognized him.

When Sulley reaches his hand out, Mike pauses for a moment, almost as though he's realizing that he's heard that name somewhere.

It's like when you meet someone and then inside your head you're thinking, "I think I've seen you before..."

(Part 2 of 2) The animation in the original Monsters Inc. was incredibly good for its time, particularly Sully's fur, but as a whole, is far behind what the animators at Pixar can create today. Go and watch one of the trailers for Monsters U. where it shows the college--the lighting, the colors, the textures, the sense of depth and dimension, everything is breathtaking--practically photo-realistic in some portions--and far beyond anything you'll see in the original.

(Part 1 of 2) Well, it's hard to compare the two scenes showed from the trailer in this video as compared to the scene from the original, as those two scenes are pretty static close-up scenes while the scene from the original shows more movement and surroundings, making the animation look a little more complex. However, this is not reflective of the entire film.

anyone else think the animation style for the new film looks cheaper and... older than the first film?

Mike says they meet in 4th grade (aka when they were kids), but the new films shows that it was not true and they meet in Collage
