Nissan announces the extension of its British Built Trade-In Scheme

A unique, 36ft extended vehicle made out of scrapped car parts was unveiled by Nissan today, Monday 29th March, as the manufacturer announced it is to extend its British Built Trade-in Scheme.
An estimated 300 thousand British people could benefit from the scheme this year, with over 25 thousand people having already made the most of the initiative to date.

The announcement comes as the Governments Scrappage Scheme draws to a close and sees Nissan take the driving seat in the campaign to further support the British automotive industry. New Nissans eligible for the improved offer, which will commence on April 1st and run until June 30th 2010, include the Micra, Note, Qashqai or Qashqai+2, all of which are produced at Nissans Sunderland Plant.

In a further boost to the UKs car industry, Nissan started the year by announcing it was to introduce a temporary third production shift at the plant in response to continuing high demand for the award-winning Qashqai. Recruitment for a further 400 new posts at the Sunderland plant has since begun, with a further 160 temporary posts secured.
